Broker Market Impact Awards Criteria
Do you have a broker to nominate? Make sure:
- The nominee is an individual broker in Washington State. Team submissions do not qualify.
- The broker's transactions submitted for nomination were completed between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
- For leasing transactions, lease must be fully executed and noncontingent.
- For sale transactions, sale must be closed.
- Investment and Multifamily Broker of the Year nominations only: Due to the unique market conditions of 2023, for this first year, applications will be evaluated over a three-year period (July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024).
Each category will be judged based on the following criteria. Please note, NAIOPWA reserves the right to re-assign nominations, and add, amend, or drop categories based on nominations received.
Industrial Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the industrial broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Qualifying transactions for this category include industrial related transactions (e.g. new leases, lease renewals, subleases, vacant land sold/acquired, build-to-suits, and any other industrial related transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/23 to 6/30/24.

Office Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the office broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Qualifying transactions for this category include office related transactions (e.g. new leases, lease renewals, subleases, vacant land sold/acquired, build-to-suits, and any other office related transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/23 to 6/30/24.

Retail Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the retail broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Qualifying transactions for this category include retail related transactions (e.g. new leases, lease renewals, subleases, vacant land sold/acquired, build-to-suits, and any other retail related transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/23 to 6/30/24.

Multifamily Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the multifamily investment broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024 (qualifying window expanded due to unique market conditions). Qualifying transactions for this category include multifamily investment related transactions (e.g. acquisitions, sales, financing activity and any other multifamily related transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/21 to 6/30/24.

Investment Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the investment broker (non-multifamily) who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024 (qualifying window expanded due to unique market conditions). Qualifying transactions for this category include investment related transactions (e.g. acquisitions, sales, financing activity and any other investment related transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/21 to 6/30/24. Multifamily investment brokers should submit in the specific Multifamily Broker of the Year category.

Rising Star Broker of the Year
This award recognizes the emerging broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State industrial real estate market between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Qualifying transactions for this category include any brokerage transactions (e.g. new leases, lease renewals, buildings sold/acquired, vacant land sold/acquired, build-to-suits, and any other transactions). Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/23 to 6/30/24. The nominated broker must have less than five years of experience as a broker.

Open Category
This award recognizes the individual broker who has made the most significant contribution to the Washington State medical, aerospace, or other real estate markets between July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Qualifying transactions for this category include any brokerage transactions (e.g. new leases, lease renewals, buildings sold/acquired, vacant land sold/acquired, build-to-suits, and any other transactions) that are not covered by the above categories. Production is quantified as the total gross commissions actually paid to the broker and the volume of transactions. Qualifying transactions are those completed between 7/1/23 to 6/30/24.

Conflicts & Confidentiality
The names of judges for the Night of the Stars Broker Awards program are confidential until the finalists are announced and media embargo lifted on Oct. 18, 2024 at the CBA CRE Industry Celebration. Sharing the list or contacting judges directly prior to Oct. 18, 2024 is prohibited and will result in the automatic withdraw of the soliciting nominated broker.
The deliberations of the Night of the Stars Committee, judges and its subcommittees are confidential. The contents of nominations are also confidential and will not be shared, except for appropriate publicity of the winners as described in published guidelines for the Night of the Stars Awards program. The names of selected awardees are to remain confidential until the annual Gala when the winners have received official notice. Should a nominator seek feedback on how his/her nominee fared, all such communications should be directed to info@naiopwa.org.
