PACCAR Parts Distribution Center, Renton Washington
Category
Industrial Development of the Year
Description
The Paccar Parts Distribution Center in Renton, Washington, was built to service prime dealerships in the Northwestern United States and Western Canada, receiving product from more than 800 vendors from around the world. The primary goal was to provide a building that would maximize receiving, stocking and shipping efficiencies. Secondary goals included a state-of-the-art fully equipped 50-person training center and a technology and innovation experience area. The facility was built on a superfund site and utilized 140,000 cubic yards of preload to minimize soil disturbance. The building utilizes LED lighting, prismatic skylights for harvesting daylight, reflective white roofing material to reduce heat gain, a rain garden system to recharge the groundwater and a stormwater detention pond with natural landscaping as a filter. The project exceeded all Washington State Energy Code standards, had zero waste to landfill, and has received ISO 14001 environmental certification.
