An extensive renovation of the Panorama Apartments, located in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood, was recently completed by Security Properties. Built in 1962, this 18-story mid-century modern building had seen no major updates since its construction.

With plans to reconfigure the 179 existing units into 263 smaller ones, the developer decided on a riskier option and kept the units intact, hoping to attract renters wanting unique and spacious living spaces. Apartments are generously sized from 975 to 1,500 square feet.

Over one year, the team incorporated the modern fixtures and amenities demanded in today’s rental market. Previously compartmentalized living spaces were opened up and a number of modern, public amenity spaces added. Original elements like marble elevator surrounds and terrazzo floors, ocular lighting and parquet floors were retained, keeping the overall character intact. The Panorama is now a wonderful combination of modern convenience and vintage charm.
