In March 2016, Vulcan announced it would work with Google to design four new, eco-friendly office buildings on two blocks overlooking Lake Union. Google will lease all 607,000 square feet of office space, with lease terms ranging from 14 years to 16 years. The company’s expanded location in South Lake Union will accommodate its continued growth in the Puget Sound region. In addition to the office components, residential towers with 151 apartments will rise above two of the six-story office podiums. The proposed buildings are located on two of the “Lakefront Blocks” between Mercer and Valley Streets and Terry and Fairview Avenues North. Landscaped public plazas along Mercer Street, between Terry and Fairview Avenues North, will complement 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space for restaurants, shops and/or services, all furthering the vision for the neighborhood.
