Ivar’s Pier 54 Renovation
Category
Retail Development of the Year
Description
With a bold new vision forming for Seattle’s waterfront – including viaduct replacement and strengthened connections between downtown and Elliott Bay – preserving the city’s historic piers is a critical way to strengthen connection to the past while investing in the future. The renovation of Pier 54, home to Ivar’s Acres of Clams and Fish Bar, took advantage of a nine-month waterfront closure driven by the Elliott Bay Seawall Replacement to complete improvements to the restaurant and landmark structure. Seattle’s storied waterfront restaurant, Ivar’s Acres of Clams and Fish Bar, received a significant remodel that added more restaurant space, a new outdoor patio, a state-of-the-art and highly efficient kitchen, and refreshed interior that pays homage to the iconic restaurant’s roots. Renovations to the structure replaced pier pilings and apron, expanded ground-level retail space and created new 21st century office space to attract workplace tenants and year-round activity to the waterfront.
