Building 83 exemplifies Microsoft's efforts to constantly evolve the workplace for employees, creating new standards for work and collaboration. Starting with an existing base building design, Bora re-conceived the typical central atrium surrounded by hallways into an active meeting and gathering hub for the occupants.

Custom design elements stimulate the senses and activate the creative mind, while evoking Microsoft’s innovative commitment to "mobile first, cloud first" products. The diversity of workspaces enables building inhabitants to do their best work alone or together, while a rich material palette offers different visual and physical textures, color, and lighting in support of varying work styles and moods. The ultimate goal of Building 83 has been to ignite creativity, bringing building users together from 14 different work wings across four stories to share ideas and spark new ones. By designing a flexible physical framework for multi-modal connectivity, the project has proven a precedent-setting success.
